Another Undefeated Season for the Lincoln Blue Tigers
Let me first apologize for being very late with this article. No honest reason for neglecting to post the results of the Blue Tigers football season. If you haven’t heard they went undefeated in the regular season. Hats off to coach Lowe and his entire staff.
The final game of the regular season was played against Center High School, separated by only ten miles, and have been rivals throughout the school year - but rarely on the football field. Different classifications and conferences mean that they rarely meet in games.
Lincoln Prep defended the blue turf of its home field, capping an undefeated regular season with a 29-14 victory.
“It was a game for the community and the fans, “ Lincoln Prep coach William Lowe said. “It wasn’t going to affect our playoff seeding, it wasn’t going to affect Center’s playoff seeding. It was just a fun game and to give the fans a game to see.
“We wanted to play this game and they wanted to play the game also, and our kids just took it personally to step up and play hard.”
The Center’s schedule this year has been filled with unknowns, so coach Bryan DeLong was happy to fill out the regular season with any game. The fact that it was against a local team was an added bonus.
The Blue Tigers (9-0) capitalized on big plays to build a comfortable 23-7 halftime lead. Senior A’jstin Pearson started the game by returning the opening kickoff 45 yards. sophomore running back John Price followed that with a 41 yard run on Lincoln Prep's first play from scrimmage. He capped the drive with a 6-yard scoring run on fourth and goal.
