Lincoln Prep Opens New Stadium
On October 4, 2019, LCPA dedicated its new football field with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and homecoming celebration. The event was attended by approximately 2,500 spectators who overflowed the stands. Additional seats were added in both end zones for this event.
LCPA played East High School and was victorious. Congrats to the Blue Tigers for winning the game. At half time the ceremony included the crowning of the kings and queens for the various classes. The dance team performed also. All things considered, it was a happy time, except for the wet weather through most of the first half.
Lincoln Prep became the last high school in the Kansas City Public School district to have its own football stadium. As one young man said,"we finally have a field to call our own".
Funding for the construction of the field comes from, not only help from the Kansas City Chiefs but the local community and alumni including Miami Dolphins defensive end Charles Harris, an alum of LCPA and Missouri University, who made a sizable donation to help with the field.
Lincoln came out on the winning end of the score, 27-7, to remain undefeated. Hats off to the coach and his staff who had the Blue Tigers ready for this historical game.
"Lincoln now has their home stadium, that's a phenomenal addition to our facilities,"
Lincoln Prep Principal Kristian Foster said. "And quite frankly, our student-athletes deserve this".
